Peggy L. Barker, 92 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away peacefully, with her family around her, Sunday, August 16, 2026 in the Christiana Care Hospital of Newark, DE.
Born June 28, 1934 in Ligon, Kentucky she was the daughter of the late Perrin and Bertha Holt.
Peggy was known for her extraordinary love for everyone she met. Above all else, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family unconditionally with all her heart. They were her greatest joy, and she found happiness in caring for them, supporting them, and simply being there whenever they needed her. She gave so much of herself, leaving her family with countless memories and a love that will remain in their hearts forever.
Throughout her life she found strength in her personal relationship with Jesus Christ, reading scripture and praying every day. She would always say, “Jesus has my heart and I have His.”
Peggy was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit, MD, for almost 70 years. She retired in 1994 from the former Rising Sun Acme following 30 years of service.
Peggy is survived by her son, Joseph Barker, Jr. (Marie); daughters, Ellen Johnson and Jacqueline Snyder (Bill). She is also lovingly remembered by six grandchildren, Michael Snyder Sr. (Traci); Tiffany Taylor (Josh); Cody Johnson (Sarah); Casey Bowman (Garrett); Ceara Hudson (Andrew) and Devan Barker; and nine great grandchildren, Michael Jr, Carlie, Dakota, Sawyer, Scout, Alice, Brooke, Brooks and Maddox.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Barker, Sr.; son in law, Randy Johnson; brothers Elmer Holt, Delmar Holt, Franklin Holt, and Lowell Holt; sisters, Alma Hall, Queenie Thornsberry, and Clara Holt.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church or the Maryland Troopers Assn. Lodge No. 15 Shield of Hope Charity in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766.
