In Loving Memory of Perry Layne Hicks
July 22, 1957 – July 16, 2026
Perry Layne Hicks, 68, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Perry was born on July 22, 1957. He lived in Northeast, Maryland, and Grafton, West Virginia, throughout his life, building lasting friendships and creating cherished memories wherever he called home.
Perry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna Lynn Hicks; his grandson, Samuel Hicks; and his parents, Dorothy E Hicks (Clark) and Harry Nelson Hicks Jr.
He is survived by his loving children, Bobbie Marie Hicks, Nathaniel Hicks, and Michael Hood; his daughter-in-law, Michelle Hicks; his brother, Richard Hicks; his sister, Deborah Magraw and brother in law James S Magraw.
Perry was also the proud grandfather of Sophia Hicks, Nathaniel Hicks Jr., Scott Hicks, Joey Hood, and Bobbi Hood. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Perry found joy in the simple things in life. He loved fishing, riding his motorcycle, taking long vacations with his brothers and sisters, and making memories with those he loved. Above all else, he was a devoted family man who worked hard to provide for his family and always put their needs before his own. His kindness, strength, and unwavering love will be remembered by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Perryville American Legion. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Perry's life, share memories, and celebrate the love and legacy he leaves behind. Funeral arrangements will be in Bluefield WVa at a later date.
Though he will be deeply missed, Perry's memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
