Phoenix Edward Phillips

December 29, 2001 – October 2, 2026

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the untimely death of Phoenix Edward Phillips, age 24, of Perryville, Maryland, who was born on December 29, 2001, in Elkton, Cecil County, Maryland, and whose life was tragically cut short on October 2, 2026, in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. The sudden and devastating loss of Phoenix has left his family and loved ones struggling to comprehend a world without him. Taken far too soon, Phoenix leaves behind a family who loves him deeply, a young son who deserved so much more time with his father, and a future filled with possibilities that will never have the chance to unfold. His life mattered, his presence made a diAerence, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

Family

Phoenix is survived by his beloved son, Asher Edward Phillips; his father, Nekoda Mark Edward Phillips; his mother, Amanda Ann Phillips; and his younger brother, Sydney Vjeko Phillips. Phoenix's family also includes his maternal grandparents, Kenneth Phillips and Chris Billings; his step-grandfather, Steve Porter (Chris Billings); and his paternal grandparents, the late Edward Phillips (2008) and Mary Ann Phillips (2022). Phoenix is also survived by his paternal aunt, Deborah Impellitier (Joseph Carl "JC"); his maternal aunts, Brandy Trimble (Aaron) and Mary Turbide (Brian); and his maternal uncles, Steven Porter and Thomas Porter (Brie). He will also be lovingly remembered by his cousins: Noah Trimble, Payton Jourdan, Adam Trimble, Ava Turbide, Mary Turbide, Brian Turbide, Becket Porter, Sean Trimble, and Houston Crouch, along with his extended family members, whose lives he touched and who will carry his memory with them.

His Life and Legacy

From the moment Phoenix entered this world, he displayed the strength, determination, and spirited personality that would come to define him. Born with a clearly visible six-pack of abdominal muscles, he seemed destined to be a strong and fearless child. Even as a toddler, his muscular build earned comparisons to a little Hercules. Mischievous and adventurous, he delighted in driving his four-wheeler into things just to see what would happen, laughing hysterically at the results. He was bold, playful, full of energy, and always ready to have fun.

Phoenix developed a distinctive sense of style at an early age. He loved jewelry, matching his outfits, and wearing the latest trends from head to toe. Confident and charismatic, he made friends wherever he went, leaving a lasting impression through his personality and sense of humor.

Growing up, Phoenix was a natural athlete who participated in numerous sports, with football always being his greatest passion. His remarkable speed and endurance earned him the childhood nickname "Wheels." He graduated from Perryville High School in Perryville, Maryland, as a member of the Class of 2020, distinguishing himself as a talented varsity football player who excelled at the safety position. Following graduation, he continued playing on a semi-professional football team.

Phoenix's understanding of football extended far beyond the field. He could anticipate calls and plays during professional games before the announcers described them. A devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he proudly insisted they were the best team, with little room for disagreement. His passion for the Steelers remained with him throughout his life, and he even had the opportunity to see them play in person just one day before his passing.

Following graduation, Phoenix demonstrated extraordinary ambition and an entrepreneurial spirit. Through determination, hard work, and an understanding of financial markets, he became a self-made millionaire at a young age, founding successful internet and mobile application businesses focused on stock market and options investing. His achievements earned him recognition and awards from the WHOP platform upon reaching his first million dollars and each additional million-dollar milestone thereafter. He also purchased his own home, reflecting his independence and dedication to turning dreams into reality.

Known professionally as "Oculus," Phoenix built a personal brand around stock market investing, options trading, and financial education. His signature expression, "Only One Oculus," reflected the unique identity he created. Through his work, he inspired thousands of young men and women to pursue financial independence, believe in their potential, set meaningful goals, and never give up. His message of ambition, perseverance, and positivity demonstrated that age did not determine what someone could accomplish and that dreams required courage and dedication.

Despite his accomplishments, Phoenix remained quiet and unassuming, with a heart of gold and generosity that extended far beyond his financial success. He would give someone the shirt oA his back, regardless of how much or how little he had. Loyal to family and friends, he could always be counted on for love and support. He also had a wonderful sense of humor, making people laugh through funny facial expressions, playful jokes, and unexpected silliness. Behind his quieter moments lived the same fun, mischievous spirit he had carried since childhood.

Of all Phoenix's accomplishments, becoming a father was among his greatest sources of pride. The birth of his son, Asher, brought him a happiness unlike anything he had previously experienced. This precious gift was given by Asher’s mother Amaya Murray. Asher held an extraordinary place in his heart and became a driving force behind many of his ambitions. Phoenix dreamed of creating opportunities, building a secure future, and giving his son a life filled with possibilities. He wanted Asher to be proud of the man his father had become and to grow up knowing who his father was, what he believed in, and how deeply he was loved. The example Phoenix set, the dreams he pursued, and the love he gave would become an important part of the legacy his family could one day share with Asher.

Phoenix took tremendous pride in being both a father and a big brother. His younger brother, Sydney, held a special place in his heart, and Phoenix cherished the bond they shared. He loved Sydney deeply and wanted to be an inspiration, a role model, and a best friend to him. Phoenix hoped that his love and encouragement would give Sydney the strength and confidence to pursue his own dreams and find his own path. Their bond was one that neither time nor loss could ever take away.

Beyond business and football, Phoenix loved music. He enjoyed singing, rapping, dancing, and playing guitar, with an appreciation for musical beats and a gift for expressing his feelings through lyrics. He also enjoyed hiking, the beach, and visiting casinos, appreciating the many experiences life had to oAer.

Phoenix was also a man of faith. He prayed daily and deeply valued his personal relationship with his Heavenly Father. He hoped to pass that faith on to Asher, teaching him to turn to his Heavenly Father for strength, guidance, and peace. He wanted his son to know both the love of his earthly father and the everlasting love of his Heavenly Father.

Always looking toward the future, Phoenix dreamed of entering real estate, expanding his businesses, and traveling the world. He wanted to explore new places, experience diAerent cultures, and create lasting memories. He had already begun making plans to pursue those dreams, constantly learning, growing, and reaching for something greater.

Phoenix lived life on his own terms, embracing each new experience with curiosity, confidence, and an unmistakable sense of individuality. He was never content to stand still, always discovering interests and finding his own way forward. His journey was uniquely his own, and those who knew him will forever cherish the privilege of having been part of it.

A Final Tribute

Phoenix's name carried a meaning that now holds an especially profound place in the hearts of those who loved him. Like the legendary phoenix that rises from the ashes, his name symbolizes renewal, hope, and life beyond what appears to be an ending.

Throughout his short but remarkable life of 9,044 days, Phoenix worked to provide for those he loved, inspired others to rise above their circumstances, and gave generously of himself. Though his earthly life has ended, his family holds fast to the hope that those who rest in their graves will one day awaken and rise again.

We will remember the little boy with the muscles of a tiny Hercules, the fearless child on his four-wheeler, the young man with unmistakable style, the athlete known as "Wheels," the football player who knew every play, the musician who felt the beat, the son who loved fiercely, the brother who inspired, and the father whose little boy was his entire world.

His family will carry his laughter, his strength, his faith, his determination, and his dreams forward. Yet through the pain of his absence, they will always treasure the privilege of having loved him and the memories that no loss can take away.

Phoenix will forever be remembered as a beloved son, a devoted father, a cherished brother, a treasured family member, and an unforgettable friend. His life was a gift to everyone who knew and loved him, and his absence will be felt in ways that words can never fully express.

Though his time on earth was far too short, the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the memories he created will endure beyond his years. His spirit, his laughter, and his remarkable legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. Until the day we meet again, Phoenix will never be forgotten. WE LOVE YOU FOREVER!
