Renee Lynn (Pierce) Williams

Renee Lynn (Pierce) Williams, 58, passed away in the early morning of September 12, 2023, following a nearly four-year battle with cancer.

Renee was born on August 30,1965. She spent her early childhood in Port Deposit, MD, before the family moved to Rising Sun, MD. She attended Susquehanna Adventist School before graduating from Highland View Academy (HVA) in Hagerstown, MD. She would go on to earn her Associate’s degree in Electronics from Cecil College. Renee married former spouse, Merritt McMullen, and had two children, Robert and Chelsea. She then met and remarried to her husband of 26 years, Mark Williams, while working as an Army civilian at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Mark and Renee had three children, Pierce, Chase and Luke. Renee had various jobs over the years, but was especially proud of her time working at her alma mater, Highland View Academy, in various capacities. Above all, she enjoyed spending time at home with her children. She loved to cook, garden, go to the beach, sing with her father, and cheer on her beloved Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Orioles, and Cape Henlopen Vikings Baseball Team.

Renee was an active member of the Rising Sun Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church of Rising Sun, MD; the Highland View SDA Church of Hagerstown, MD; and the Dover First SDA Church of Dover, DE. She loved spending time with her church family and was dearly looking forward to her Savior’s soon return.

Renee is survived by her loving husband, Mark Williams of Rehoboth Beach, DE; son, Robert (Ashley) McMullen of Hagerstown, MD; daughter, Chelsea (Joshua) Calhoun of Detour, MD; sons, Pierce, Chase, and Luke Williams of Rehoboth Beach, DE; father, Stanley Robert Pierce of Rising Sun, MD; brother, Samuel (Kimberly) Pierce of Chattanooga, TN; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was predeceased by her mother, Ruth Ann (Tome) Pierce, mother-in-law, Ena (Ruddick) Williams, father-in-law, Everett Williams, and several other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Highland View Academy, Rising Sun Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and the Dover First Seventh-Day Adventist Church, courtesy of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766.

A memorial service will be held at Rising Sun Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Rising Sun, MD, on Sunday, September 24th at 2:00pm, with visitation starting at 1:00pm. A reception will follow at the Rising Sun Banquet Hall pavilion.
