Robert A. Horton, Sr.

Robert A. Horton Sr, 78 yrs, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 4, 2020 following complications with pneumonia and Alzheimer’s. Born July 20, 1941 in Galax, VA, he was the son of the late Arlie and Nellie Horton.

Robert was a 1959 graduate of Havre de Grace High School and entered the Army at that time. He served his country for 9 years, which included several overseas tours, including the Vietnam war. Upon returning home he worked for the Department of Defense employed in Defense Contract Management as a Quality Assurance Specialist and retired in 2009.

Robert is survived by his son, Robert Horton Jr of Rising Sun, MD; daughter, Deborah Horton of Airville, PA; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four step-children; six sisters, Frances Ivins of Aldino, MD, Linda Tindall of Sebring, FL, Brenda Dolly of High View, WVA, Judy Leftwich of Darlington, MD, Sharon Moxley of Bel Air, MD, and Sheila Wilson of Red Lion, PA; two brothers, Donald Horton of Havre de Grace, MD, and Harry T. Horton of Conowingo, MD; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Horton, and older brother, Willard Horton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, February 11, 2010, 11 AM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., of Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, February 10, 2020, 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home. Pastor Josh McCord of the Conowingo Baptist Church of Conowingo, MD, will officiate. Interment will be in West Nottingham Cemetery, Colora, MD. Military Honors will be provided by the Rising Sun American Legion Post No. 194 of Rising Sun, MD.
