Legacy Rooted in Faith and Grown in Love

Roberta Lee Scott Guary, 79, of Maryland, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026 at the Christiana Care Hospice in Newark, DE. Born on August 1, 1947 in Elkton, MD, she was the beloved daughter of the late Mary and Cornelius Scott, Sr., of Port Deposit, MD. Roberta grew up as the oldest child in the Scott family and carried herself throughout life with humility, strength, and grace.

Roberta married the late Cpl. Robert Lee Guary I, who became a dedicated Maryland State Trooper shortly after they were married. Their union was one of the most cherished branches of her family tree and was blessed with three children: Robert, Renee, and Regina.

Roberta accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church of Port Deposit. For more than 30 years, she was a devoted member of the Cokesbury First Baptist Church, where she served as administrative secretary to the pastor and was active with Women Supporting Women and the Vacation Bible School Youth Ministry. Roberta was also among the early Black students to integrate Perryville Middle/High School, demonstrating courage, dignity, and quiet resilience.

Roberta worked as a teacher’s aide before becoming a successful nail technician and small business owner for 25 years. She also faithfully served her community for more than 30 years as a member of the Aberdeen Lioness Lions Club.

She is survived by her children, Robert Guary II, Renee Foster (Brett), and Regina Dorsey; grandchildren, Jennifer, Nicholas, Brittney, and Aryonna; great-grandchildren, Amiah, Gavin, Oakley, Hudson, and Cammari; and siblings, Cornelius Scott (Teresa), Grady Scott (Theresa), Pearl Johnson (Grant), Cynthia McClain (Richard), Nathaniel Clark (Cleo), Brian Clark, Robbin Blackwell, and Angelo Hernandez (Missy).
