Sheila Dale Gilley Kilby

Sheila Dale Gilley Kilby, 62 years, of Rising Sun, MD, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 4, 2025 following a sudden illness. Born October 21, 1963 in Havre de Grace, MD, she was the youngest daughter of the late Earnest and Flora Wilcox Gilley.

Sheila was a graduate of Rising Sun High School Class of 1980. Following high school, she spent many years working as a secretary in Washington, DC, and the Baltimore area. Driven by her passion for learning, Sheila went back to school and earned her degree from the University of Baltimore. She then returned to the workforce, finishing her career at a law office outside of Baltimore. In later years, she lovingly devoted herself to caring for her mother as her health declined, and went on to support her sisters when they experienced health challenges of their own.

Those who knew Sheila knew she had a deep passion for 80’s rock music and numerous musicians of other eras and genres. Sheila enjoyed reading and was always learning something new. Her favorite subject to read about was history. She also loved reading about her favorite bands, musicians, and new recipes. She loved animals, especially cats, and even one affectionately nicknamed, “Cheetah”.

Sheila is survived by her sisters, Judy Miller and husband, Allan, of Wyoming, DE, and Kathy Heim of Rising Sun, MD; nieces and nephews, Karen Campbell (Chris), Kelly Molter (Greg), Kimberly Campbell (Dan), Sara Harrison (Mark), Brett Heim, and Jeff Miller (Alisha); uncle, Kyle Wilcox (Ginger); numerous great nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Michael Wallace.

In addition to her parents, Sheila was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Martin and Ollie Wilcox; paternal grandparents, Arthur and Callie Gilley; brother-in-law, Roger Heim; and nephew-in-law, Rick Lane.
