Star Elliena (Rice) Greer, 73, of Perryville, MD, passed away at home Friday, October 11, 2024 following a long battle with cancer.
Star grew up in Rising Sun, MD, and attended Rising Sun High School, where she was a cheerleader and where she met her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Wilford Greer, who she married in 1970 after he returned home from service in Vietnam. They would complete their family after having a son, Shane, and a daughter, Amy.
Cherished wife and mother, Star was a beautiful soul who lived a beautiful life. She always led with kindness and enjoyed the company of young people and stayed young at heart to the very end. Through the years, she enjoyed bowling, game nights, bingo, and the beach, but she was never happier than spending a day on the golf course with her beloved husband, Will. Whether she was showing off her skills on the course or just driving the cart, it was a day spent with her favorite person in the world. She loved to laugh and spread laughter. And when she loved you, you felt it. And of course, no summation of Star's life would be complete without mentioning her love of the color pink. Paraphrasing a line from one of her favorite movies, Steel Magnolias...pink was her signature color.
While Star will be greatly missed by so many, we find comfort that she is at rest. She led a life by example; working hard, always looking for the good in people, and loving fiercely. While we have lost a huge piece of our hearts, heaven has gained a new angel. And if Star has her way about it, one with beautiful pink wings.
