Steven Lon Williams, Sr.

Steven Lon Williams, Sr., 75, of Conowingo passed away May 25, 2024. He was a lifelong resident of Liberty Grove who originally attended the one room schoolhouse in Rising Sun. Two weeks before his high school graduation, he purchased a 66’ Corvette. In Pop’s early days he was big into drag racing. For employment he originally worked for a brick shed palletizing the bricks to load onto trains. He then pursued a career in computer programming in its early stages in Baltimore but opted to leave the office for a hands-on career in the great outdoors driving truck. He began trucking in 1969 and continued working until a shoulder injury in 2018 which led to his retirement. In his retirement he began to drive for Wakefield Builders. He loved the proximity to home and the time he was able to spend with his children and grandchildren.

He had a passion for cars, racing, and trains. On the weekends Pop could be found at Lon’s garage tinkering on his Corvette, attending car shows, NASCAR races, and model train shows.

Steven was preceded in death by his father, Donald Norwood Williams Sr., and mother, Bessie Lucy Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, Steven Jr., and wife, Jaime, and Joshua and wife, Jessica; daughter, Jessica and husband, Nate; and eight grandchildren, Madison, Steven III, Benjamin, Jackson, Brayden, Joshua Jr., Morgan, and Mackenzie.

Services will be held on 31 May 2024 at the Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit with viewing from 1000-1200 hours, funeral service immediately following with interment after.
