Thomas Hatch Smith

Thomas Hatch Smith, 91 yrs, of Perryville, MD, died Saturday, October 25, 2014 at his residence. Born August 6, 1923 in Athol, MA, he was the son of the late Seymour and Esther Hatch Smith. Mr. Smith was a long time member of the First Christian Church of Havre de Grace, MD, and was retired from Mt. Ararat Farms of Port Deposit, MD, following 28 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during W.W. II and was a member of the Susquehanna American Legion Post No. 135 of Perryville, MD, and in his retirement was an avid decoy carver. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Julia Johnston Smith of Perryville, MD; son, James Smith of Rockville, MD; daughters Kathy Bowlin of Owings Mills, MD, and Mary Patricia Karwacki both of Port Deposit, MD; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his siblings, Howard Smith, Allen Smith and Shirley Pierce. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, October 31, 2014, 1 PM, at First Christian Church of Havre de Grace, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, October 31, 2014, 12 Noon until 1 PM, at the church prior to the funeral service. Pastor Ronald L. Tabor of First Christian Church will officiate. Interment will be in Harford Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, MD.
