Timothy Blake Ward

Timothy Blake Ward (Tim) age 31 departed his home in Port Deposit, Maryland to become the Guest of Honor when he joined in celebration with his Creator in Heaven on Monday August 22, 2011. He left his earthly body because of brain cancer, but today he is walking the streets of his new home in a perfect body free from pain and disease. Tim was born June 23, 1980 at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Towson, Maryland. He was a loving son to Blake Edward Ward, and Lisa Kay Ward of Port Deposit. He was a very protective big brother to Candice Michelle Testerman, and Rachael Leigh Gilley both of Port Deposit, a wonderful uncle to Patrick James Gilley Jr. and Jocelyn Marie Testerman. Tim is also survived by his two brother-in-laws PJ Gilley and Joey Testerman, and grandparents Joe & Phyllis Evans, and Bud & Jenny Ward. Tim was preceeded in death by his maternal grandmother Linda Nell Scruggs, and two Uncles; William Tittle, and Michael Ward. Tim was a true man of Faith. He served God openly with all of his heart. Tim was active in church all of his life. He attended Edgewood Assembly of God with his family until he was age 14. While there he was active in Royal Rangers, and went on a missions trip to Lu Wabo Laredo Mexico to minister to the poor in the squatter camps. He then attended Rising Sun Church of the Nazarene with his family where he was very active in the youth group. In 2000 he helped his parents plant Great Commission Church of the Nazarene in Havre de Grace where he played his Soprano Saxaphone for nine years on the Praise & Worship team. With his family’s blessing and encouragement he followed his heart in 2009 and began his journey to the Catholic Church. He was confirmed on April 3, 2010 at Good Shepherd Church in Perryville, Maryland where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and remained active until he went to be with Jesus. Tim graduated from Perryville High School in 1998. While at Perryville High School he participated in the Theatre program, played Saxaphone for three years in the Solo Fest, Alto saxophone in the Concert Band, Soprano saxophone in the Marching Band, All-County Band, sang in the chorus, the All-County Chorus, wrestled on the Panthers Wrestling Team, threw Shot Put & Discus on the Track Team, and was a member of the French Honor Society. Tim traveled on a school trip to France the Summer of 2007 where he embraced the culture and language that he had studied for four years. He loved being active and had so much fun in the school plays. In his Freshman year he played Charlie Brown in “You’re a good man Charlie Brown”, his Junior year he player Monsieur Thénardier from Les Miserables in Broadway Dreams, and His Senior year he played Rump in “Grease.” Tim loved learning. He went on to earn two Associate of Science Degrees; one in Chemistry and one in Physics - both from Cecil Community College in 2000. He then earned a Bachelor of Food Science in 2003 from the University of Delaware. On May 19, 2011 he completed his Master of Chemical & Life Sciences at the University of Maryland. He had planned to pursue teaching Math and Science beginning this Fall. Tim had literally hundreds of friends. His favorite college past-time was backyard wrestling with his buddies. They had their own backyard federation HCW for Hardcore Championship Wrestling. Tim trained at Brain Busters in Baltimore, Maryland for his professional wrestling career. He wrestled for two Independent Federations; DIW in Philadelphia, and MEWF of Baltimore. He was known in the ring most often as the heel, and as “Sexy Tim Ward.” Tim was a gifted Scientist - employed by C&A Services in Belcamp, Maryland where he was a Food Technologist in Research & Development. He was elected as a board member to the local chapter of the Institute of Food Technologist. Tim, (author name Tim B. Ward) was also a published Author. On his 30th birthday, June 23, 2010 the story of his first struggle with a brain tumor was published; Surviving & Thriving; A brain tumor survivor’s story. His book can be purchased at Amazon.com. Tim’s life was cut short in the number of days, but not in the living that he did. Tim lived more in his 31 years than most will do in a lifetime; perhaps Dr. Suess was thinking of Tim when he wrote the book; Oh the places we will go. A quote from the book; “And will you succeed? Oh yes! You will, in deed! 98 and ¾ percent guaranteed. Kid, you’ll move mountains!”  Tim reiterates this in his book; Tale it. Embrace it. Be thankful for it. This world is ours. Take advantage of it. Tim’s favorite Bible verse; “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, August 26, 2011, 12 Noon, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Aiken Avenue, Perryville, MD.  Visitations for family and friends will be held Thursday, August 25, 2011, 7 PM – 9 PM, at the Lee A.
