Vincent C. Mahoney, Jr., 85, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017, with his family by his side. Vince was born in Port Jervis, NY and grew up in Clinton, NY.
He was the son of the late Vincent and Vera (Ryder) Mahoney. He graduated from Clinton High School, Class of 1950. Vince attended Long Island A&T Institute for auto and diesel technology and attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. as a Sergeant with Lt. General Lewis B. Puller during the Korean War. He worked for the nuclear division for Martin Marietta in Middle River, MD. From 1967, until he retired in 1994, he sold laboratory supplies and equipment for VWR Scientific.
During his life, Vince was a popular mentor for local kids and for his sons' friends. He was always there for anyone who was interested in anything mechanical or needed a little positive direction in life.
Vince is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean (Slapinsky) Mahoney, his son, Michael V. Mahoney and his wife, Chris Mahoney, his son, Mark A. Mahoney and his wife, Louise Mahoney, his granddaughter, Meghan Mahoney, several uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ellen Mahoney.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017, 2:00 pm, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., in Perryville, MD. Family and friends are welcome to share remembrances from 12 noon until the memorial service starts at 2:00 pm.
