Ward George Welch

Ward George Welch, 88 years, of Colora, MD, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026 in the Forest Hill Heights Assisted Living facility of Forest Hill, MD. Born May 14, 1937 in Frenchville, PA, he was the son of the late Carl and Veronica Royer Welch.

Ward graduated from Clearfield High School. He then embarked on a life-long career in welding construction, working for Pittsburgh Des Moine Steel and CBI Corporation of Pittsburg, PA. This allowed him to travel extensively. He retired to Colora, MD, after 45 years on the road and spent a few more years in industry as a consultant. He eventually retired from all to spend time with family and friends.

He was an active member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Parish of Perryville, MD, over the years and was in the Knights of Columbus as a Fourth degree. He coached Youth football and Little League.

Ward is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, G. Elizabeth (Betty) Welch; son, Randy Welch; daughters, Kathy Heath and Pamela Hollenbaugh; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-two great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ward was preceded in death by his sister, Joanne Skelly.

A Mass of Christian Burial has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, 2026, 12 Noon, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church of Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2026, 10 AM until 12 Noon, at the church prior to the Mass. Father Jay McKee of Good Shepherd Parish will officiate. Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Port Deposit, MD.
