William "Bill" Wesley Herold, Jr.

November 28, 1963 – July 1, 2026

With profound sadness and unwavering love, we announce the passing of William "Bill" Wesley Herold Jr., who entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on July 1, 2026, at the age of 62.

Born on November 28, 1963, in Baltimore, Maryland, Bill spent most of his life in Maryland before making North Carolina his home. While his career earned him respect throughout the construction industry, it was the love he poured into his family, his faith in God, and the countless lives he touched that became his greatest legacy.

Bill dedicated an extraordinary 46 years to the construction industry. Beginning as a laborer, he earned every opportunity through determination, intelligence, and an unmatched work ethic, eventually rising to an executive position. Along the way, he fulfilled his entrepreneurial spirit as the sole owner of Bravo Concrete and co-owner of Summit Concrete. His drive extended beyond construction as he also owned the Susky River Grille & Laff Lounge, creating places where people gathered, laughed, and made memories.

His commitment to serving others reached far beyond business. As President of the Cecil County Board of Education, Bill devoted his time and energy to improving opportunities for future generations. He believed in investing in people, leading with integrity, and leaving every place better than he found it.

To know Bill was to know a man who loved deeply and lived fully. He was humorous enough to make any room laugh, stubborn enough to stand firmly by his convictions, compassionate enough to help anyone in need, and loyal beyond measure. He believed in working hard but often reminded those around him to "Work smarter, not harder." Whether greeting someone with his familiar "Hey Fred," Bill had a way of making everyone feel like family.

When he wasn't working, Bill could often be found enjoying life's simple pleasures. He loved sitting on the beach with the people he cherished most, sharing a fine bourbon, enjoying a good cigar, playing poker, or perfecting his barbecue recipes while competing in BBQ competitions. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association and a devoted fan of the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles, and Washington Capitals, cheering passionately through every season.

Above every accomplishment, every title, and every business venture, Bill's greatest pride was his family. Nothing brought him greater joy than watching his children and grandchildren grow. They were the center of his world and the reason behind everything he worked so hard to build. His greatest success cannot be measured in buildings constructed or businesses owned, but in the lives he shaped, the lessons he taught, and the unconditional love he gave so freely.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Diana Van Pelt Herold; his children, Stephanie Levering and her husband, Andrew Levering; Wesley Herold and his wife, Alicia Herold; Kaisee Herold and her fiancé, Kyle Beck; Kelsey Donaldson and her wife, Pam Burger; and Connor Herold. He also leaves behind the lights of his life, his beloved grandchildren: Blake Stevens, Kylan Stevens, Ryleigh Forrester, Anthony Levering, Mason Levering, Tristan Levering, Jordyn Stanley, and Cali Stanley, along with countless extended family members, lifelong friends, coworkers, and all who were blessed to know him.

Although our hearts are broken by his absence, we find comfort knowing Bill's faith was unwavering. As a man of God, he lived with purpose, generosity, and love, and we rejoice in knowing he has been welcomed into eternal peace. His voice may now be silent, but his wisdom, laughter, strength, and love will echo through generations.

The measure of a man is not found in the wealth he accumulates or the titles he holds, but in the lives he changes. By that measure, Bill's life was extraordinary.

We will forever miss his laughter, his guidance, his stubborn determination, his warm embrace, and the unconditional love he gave so freely. His legacy lives on in every lesson he taught, every memory he created, and every heart fortunate enough to have been touched by his life.

Until we meet again. We love you.
