William Stewart Rakes

William Stewart Rakes, 75 yrs, of Sharpton, MD, died Sunday, June 22, 2014 in Salisbury, MD. Born February 28, 1939 in Rising Sun, MD, he was the son of the late William Stewart and Cessie Teaque Rakes. Bill was formerly employed by Chrysler Corporation of Newark, DE, as a yardman. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Jerry Skrivanek V.F.W. Post No. 8185 of Port Deposit, MD. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Elizabeth Sullivan Rakes of Sharpton, MD; sons, George Henderson of Colora, MD, Gene Rakes of Elkton, MD, Buddy Rakes of MD, Darrell Rakes of MD, Richard Rakes of MD, Allen Rakes of MD; daughters, Maria Gonce of Perryville, MD, Tonya Ditchfield of Charlestown, MD, Connie Cooper of Aberdeen, MD, Sandy Wilson of Havre de Grace, MD; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and sister, Helen Saunders. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sons, Danny Rakes and Robert Henderson; and sister, Dottie Nicholes. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, June 26, 2014, 11 AM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014, 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home. Pastor Michael A. Caldwell of Asbury United Methodist Church, Port Deposit, MD, will officiate. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery, Port Deposit, MD.
