Obituary

Donald “Donnie” Benson Ayers, age 91, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Born November 29, 1931 in Calvert, MD, he was the son of the late Joseph and Naomi Ayers.

Donald was a farmer his entire life in Rising Sun, MD. During his retirement, Donald was well known for cultivating his garden and blessing others with his produce. He was a great conversationalist and had an unmistakable laugh.

Donald was a loving husband, father and friend. He enjoyed nearly 60 years of marriage to his loving wife, Ethel Ayers. Donald is survived by his six children, Donald Ayers (Sherry), Mary Parker (Bill), Michael Ayers (Marylou), Susan Watterson (Charles), Frances Breen, and Heidi Gilmore (Kevin); 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 7 great great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Donald’s honor to the West Nottingham Presbyterian Church, 1195 Firetower Road, Colora, MD 21917.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023, 11 AM, at the West Nottingham Presbyterian Church of Colora, MD, and will be followed by food and fellowship.
