Doris Jean (Ferguson) Mcguigan

Doris Jean McGuigan (Ferguson) of Conowingo, MD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. She was 91. Doris loved life and loved her family. Everything that she did for most of her adult life was for her family. Chances are that if you knew her, you were either related or considered family. She adored her large family of six children and 31 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and even one great-great-grandchild. She also loved her extended family, including many brothers and sisters- in-law and scores of nieces and nephews.

While she was born and raised in Lancaster, PA, she married and spent most of her life in Conowingo, MD. She was a homemaker, but she also cared for many children while their parents worked. Many of those families are now close friends, but more like family. She is the daughter of the late John Henry Ferguson, Sr., and Louise Binsky; loving wife of the late Allen McGuigan Sr.; devoted mother of the late Debbie Elliott and husband, John, of Milford, DE; the late Allen McGuigan, Jr. and wife, Dalene, of Conowingo, MD; Linda Reeves and husband, Carl, of Rising Sun, MD; Paul McGuigan and wife, Elaina, of Conowingo, MD; the late Karl McGuigan and wife, Connie, of Peach Bottom, PA; and Fred McGuigan of Rising Sun, MD; loving sister of the late June Burke; the late John Henry Ferguson, Jr. (Helen Darrenkamp); the late Amy Brown (Cecil); the late Virginia Mae Sheets (surviving Charles); and the late Betty Jane Ferguson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Doris’s Funeral Services Saturday, February 17, 2024, 12 Noon, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., of Perryville, MD. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 17, 10 AM until 12 Noon, at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in the Conowingo Baptist Church Cemetery, Conowingo, MD.
