Janice “Ruth” Turner, 74 years, of Perryville, MD, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024 in the Always There Assisted Living Facility of Port Deposit, MD, surrounded by her loving family. Born February 21, 1950 in Chester, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Mina Lou Pierson.
Mrs. Turner was formerly employed as a Registered Nurse by the Crozer Chester Medical Center of Chester, PA, the Sacred Heart Hospital of Chester, PA, and the Fair Acres Geriatric Center of Media, PA. More recently, Mrs. Turner retired as a Registered Nurse from the Perry Point Veterans Hospital of Perry Point, MD.
Mrs. Turner was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6027 Auxiliary of North East, MD.
Ruthie is survived by her loving son, Bruce and wife, Jennifer; grandson, Dylan, who was also attentive and assisted with care to the end; sister, Peggy Easter and husband, Jim; nephews, John Gillespie, Sr., Larry Allen and wife, Kim; Kenny Allen and wife, Brenda; John Pierson and wife, Margie; and niece, Elizabeth Scofield and husband, Steve.
The family has a long history with trains, starting with Pop-Pop’s trains. What Ruthie enjoyed most was watching Dylan run his collection of model trains. She is most remembered for taking care of the patients at the Perry Point Veterans Hospital and being very active with the VFW Post when able. Ruthie loved to put her feet in the sand at the beach, reading books and spending time with her grandson.
Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Turner.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the V.F.W. Post No. 6027 of North East, MD, in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, May 2, 2024, 2 PM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., of Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, May 2, 2024, 12 Noon until 2 PM, at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Interment will be private.
