Jerry Wintford Wagner, 79 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away peacefully at home, comforted by his children, Sunday, November 13, 2022. Born August 31, 1943 in Harford County, MD, he was the son of the late Wintford and Lena Billings Wagner.
Jerry was a teen when he gave his life to Christ and was a member of the New Bridge Regular Baptist Church of Colora, MD, where he served as treasurer for several years.
He was a veteran of the United States Army having served from 1965-1967. He was retired from the Aberdeen Proving Ground following 31 years of service as a Chemical Engineering Technician.
Jerry was a beloved and devoted father, husband, pop-pop and uncle. He enjoyed watching wrestling and westerns. He loved animals and spending time with his grandchildren. Jerry would always help those in need and fed anyone who was hungry. He loved the Word of God and he represented the Fruits of the Spirit. He was one of the kindest, loving, thoughtful, patient and gentle human beings God ever created.
Jerry is survived by his son, Darien Wagner of Port Deposit, MD; daughter, Karen VanDyke (David) of Colora, MD; 3 grandchildren, Dylan, Deven and Kaitlyn VanDyke of Colora, MD; sister, Evelyn Green of Wichita, Kansas; and niece and helper, Donna McMillan.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Deborah H. Wagner; brothers, Clay Wagner and Gary Wagner; and sisters, Maxine Wagner and Ann Hildahl.
In honor of Jerry, funeral services will be held Friday, November 18, 2022, 12 Noon, at the New Bridge Regular Baptist Church of Colora, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, November 18, 2022, 10 AM until 12 Noon, at the church prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in the New Bridge Regular Baptist Church Cemetery, Colora, MD.
All are welcome to attend the luncheon immediately following the interment.
