Joan Anne Colgan

Joan Anne Colgan, 69, of North East, MD, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 2, 2022. Born January 5, 1953, in Manhattan, New York, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Catherine Nevins Colgan.

Joan is survived by Jenice Herben, John Colgan, Marie Colgan Osborn (William); nephews, Michael Dougherty (Margaret), Chris Dougherty (Cathie), Chris Colgan (Beth), Roger Osborn (Ruby), Brian Osborn (Barbara), TJ Osborn (Caresa); niece, Kimberley Colgan Feeney (Chris); great-aunt to Edward, Maeve, Fiona, John, Ryan, Claire, Willie, Lindsay, Ally, Johnny, Daniel, Dylan, Olivia, Keira, Megan, Julianna, Padraig, Maeve, Duncan, Colin, Bridget, Jack; and life-long friend, Barbara McPherson Keefe.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward Colgan and Clem Colgan; sister, Catherine Colgan Dougherty; sisters-in-law, Margaret Lindner Colgan and Mary Lou Fila Colgan.

“Joanie” was a practical joker with a generous heart of gold, never hesitating to help people. Because she was a big kid at heart, her nieces and nephews adored her! She was known for her kindness, generosity, love of life, and contagious laughter. Joanie never hesitated to let people know that she loved them and will be greatly missed by so many people whose lives she touched so deeply.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, July 9, 2022, 11 AM, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 810 Aiken Avenue, Perryville, MD 21903. Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022, 10 AM until 11 AM, at the church prior to the Mass. Interment will be in West Nottingham Cemetery, 1195 Firetower Road, Colora, MD 21917.
