Norman Hampton Hasson, Jr., 77 years, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023 surrounded by his family. Born August 29, 1945 in Havre de Grace, MD, he was the son of the late Norman Hampton Hasson, Sr. and Nellie Naomi (Eberhardt) Hasson.
Norman graduated from Perryville High School in 1964 and Goldey-Beacom College in 1966, where he is honored as a distinguished alumnus. He worked in public service for his entire adult life, serving as a town councilman of Port Deposit, a member of the Democratic Central Committee, and as treasurer of Cecil County for eight years. In 1966, Norman established his own accounting and tax business, Hasson Company Inc., that of which recently successfully completed its 57th tax season.
Norman is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Susan Harrington Hasson; daughters, Jodi (Tony) Frazier of Rising Sun, MD, and Kimberly (Frank) Britton of West Grove, PA; five grandchildren, Alyson, Brianna, Michael, Madison, and Connor; sister, Roberta (Wayne) Bitner of Rising Sun, MD; niece, Shelby (John) Bowser of Rising Sun, MD; nephew, David (Amanda) Bitner of Lititz, PA; and his many good friends in the community.
Norman will especially be remembered for graciously hosting class reunions, family celebrations, and gatherings of all kinds at the beautiful Windfields farm, which he and Susan have worked so hard to refurbish over the past 15 years. Spending time outdoors ‘livin on a farm’ was his favorite pastime. He had a passion for traveling with his family to Walt Disney World, Hilton Head Island, New England, or anywhere with good food. He also enjoyed politics, history, music, and collecting Disney memorabilia for the farm’s Party Barn. Over all else, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
