Sandra “Sandy” Thompson, 77 years, of Elkton, MD, entered into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. She passed away at her home after bravely battling cancer.
Born March 25, 1945 in Havre de Grace, MD, she was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Josephine (Krebs) Booth; late husband of 34 years, Antonio (Tony) Trotta, Jr.; sister, Margie Yung-Kwai; and brother, Hugh LaPenotiere.
Sandy is survived by her husband of 20 years, Robert Thompson of Elkton, MD; son, Michael (Denise) Trotta; daughter, Vanessa (John) Hughes; son, Antonio (Sybil) Trotta, III; daughter, Gina Caldwell; grandchildren, Hanna, Rachel, Alex, Lexington, Keith, John, Abigail, Cassandra, Jasmine, Joy, Josiah, Isaiah, Jennifer, Charity, and Eliana; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Hope, Tara, and August; and sister, Shirley Graves.
Unconditionally devoted to her family, Sandy was a homemaker for most of her life. Although she held various jobs in the service industry, she found particular joy in caring for her family and friends. Renowned for her servant’s heart, Sandy consistently placed others before herself. Gifted with a green thumb, she loved gardening and had a special talent for growing plants and flowers. Not one to sit still, Sandy was always active and usually focused on completing her next project. Quite the playful soul, she also had a keen sense of humor that often generated a laugh or a smile. Despite her illness, Sandy remained a source of hope and encouragement to those around her, even during her last days.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 11, 2022, 11 AM, at the Pleasant View Baptist Church, 150 Downin Lane, Port Deposit, MD 21904. Visitation will precede the funeral service and will be held 9 AM until 11 AM. Sandy will be laid to rest in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery of Baltimore, MD.
