Phyllis Rutherford, 72 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018 in the Christiana Hospital of Newark, DE, due to a sudden illness. She was the wife of Wolbert Lee Rutherford with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.

Born April 29, 1946 in Havre de Grace, MD, she was the daughter of the late Dallas R. and Lenora (Pugh) Cullum. Mrs. Rutherford was a homemaker who enjoyed boating, bowling, the beach, and playing shuffleboard with her husband. She cherished moments spent with her family.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Rutherford is survived by her three children, Randall T. Rutherford of Port Deposit, MD, Paula J. Hoak and husband, Michael, of Port Deposit, MD,  James L. Rutherford of Havre de Grace, MD; three grandchildren, Paul J. Rutherford, Ashlee D. Rutherford, Joshua L. Hoak; two siblings, James T. Criss and wife, Leoda, of Jarrettsville, MD, and Mable Hendrick and husband, Wayne, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018, 4 PM, at the Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, 3135 Dublin Road, Street, MD 21154. Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018, 3 PM until 4 PM, at the church prior to the memorial service.
